Shin has regained the (apparently normal in this universe?) ability to share a sense with others and have one shared with him, as demonstrated here and here.
The power works like this: - ONLY the person's signature sense can be shared, so it's the same one each time. - Only one sense can be shared at a time, so Shin can't 'swap' with someone or receive more than one at once. - It's an 'exploring together' power, so it doesn't work remotely; both have to be roughly in the same room. - It's voluntary on both ends; the giver chooses to share the sense and the receiver can turn it on and off as they like for as long as the giver is sharing it. - While it's on it replaces the receiver's own version of that sense, allowing for identification of hallucinations. - If it's not a sense the recipient is used to focusing on, there might be some synaesthesia as their brain translates it (for example, sharp scent showing up as coloured patches in vision). - There's probably some reason it can't be always active all the time (if only because both characters have lives), but honestly this is mostly relevant when it comes to handwaving stuff and it'll last for a thread just fine.
The signature sense Shin will share using this power is Hearing, because his is pretty good apparently. This gives the following while active: - An increased sensitivity to loud noises (ow). - The ability to track nearby people by their footsteps; knowing if someone is approaching or what direction they left in etc. - The ability to pinpoint where noises are coming from pretty well. - An added likelihood of finding hidden rooms.
Shin himself has these knacks all the time but is prone to hyperfixation so he CAN be snuck up on if he's deeply buried in something else.
